Work Starts on Fargate!
This week work commenced on the £1.5m refurbishment of 45-47 Fargate in Sheffield city centre which will see the building transformed into a striking new venue aimed at the hospitality and retail sectors.
Harris CM has been appointed as principal contractor to carry out the works which includes the installation of a stunning new façade with new cladding and glazing, as well as the creation of an impressive roof terrace, kitchen, seating space, storage areas, WC facilities, platform lift and new stairwell.
Once complete the building, which was previously occupied by Next, will offer more than 6,800 sq ft of space as well as a 667 sq ft terrace. It will appeal to a wide range of retail businesses and leisure operators.
Wayne Fletcher of Austin Fletcher commented: “This is an exciting project for Austin Fletcher to be involved in and one that will, when finished, surely pique the interest of many business looking for an upmarket space in the centre of Sheffield.”
“We have a great project team assembled including Pearce Bottomley Architects, Eastwood & Partners Consulting Engineers and M&E specialist, Silcock Leedham.”
Our client, David Woodhead, of Woodhead Investment & Development Services, said: “The redevelopment of 45–47 Fargate represents an exciting opportunity to create a modern, prominent corner unit, fully refurbished to suit a variety of uses including restaurant, banking, retail or office.”
“There is potential for outside seating on both frontages in a very busy area of footfall between Marks & Spencer, John Lewis and the City Hall. We anticipate the property being ready for occupation towards the end of this year.”
